Event description:
In this talk, we review recent progress in understanding crossing symmetry, which predicts what happens as we exchange incoming particles with outgoing anti-particles. Crossing symmetry turns out to relate scattering amplitudes to a range of other asymptotic observables, such as inclusive cross sections or expectation values of gravitational radiation. We demonstrate how this connection becomes practically useful for computing gravitational waveforms emitted by inelastic scattering of two black holes.
