Event description:

All Yale students – new and returning; undergraduate, graduate, and professional – are warmly invited to a special open house for students on Saturday, September 8, to celebrate the beginning of the new school year. PLEASE NOTE: the Beinecke Library is closed to the public and to all except current Yale students on Saturday, September 8.

Feel free to come by for just a little while, for an hour, or for the afternoon – there will be something for you to see, learn, and enjoy … AND every Yale student who attends will receive the library’s fall broadside of events and A Beinecke Collection of Creatures, the limited edition Beinecke Library coloring book.

The afternoon will feature special tours of the library, including our permanent and special exhibitions; orientations on how to register and use the collections onsite in the reading room; and a special display of books, manuscripts, and more in the reading room.

So, take a moment on Saturday to come by the Beinecke Library between 1 - 4 pm. Langston Hughes, Homer, Gertrude Stein, Geoffrey Chaucer, Rachel Carson, W.E.B. DuBois, Alice B. Toklas, William Shakespeare, Dora Maar, Johann Gutenberg, Frederick Douglass, Abraham Lincoln, Zora Neale Hurston, John James Audubon, and many others look forward to seeing you and encouraging you to engage the past, in the present, for the future.

The library’s ground floor and mezzanine exhbition spaces will be open to public this weekend on Sunday, September 9, and is generally open to the public daily – except for this one special Saturday for current students. Thank you for your consideration.
