Event description:

The discovery of neutrino mass in 1998 led to a global effort to understand their properties by studying neutrino oscillations. We have learned much since then, but there are still many open questions: Which neutrino is heaviest? Do neutrino properties exhibit symmetries? Is there more to the story than the standard three flavor oscillation framework? Can neutrinos explain why there is more matter than antimatter in the universe? The NOvA experiment aims to answer these questions by sending neutrino and antineutrino beams produced at Fermilab 810 km to a 14 kiloton detector located in northern Minnesota. In this talk, I will introduce neutrinos and the questions surrounding them, discuss the design of the NOvA experiment, and summarize the most recent neutrino and antineutrino results from the experiment.
